Staci Grimes

I don't think of myself as an artist, per se.
Rather, I tend to be a perceiver of the world, and an assembler of pieces.
Working with ceramics fits that perspective perfectly.

My first introduction to the wonderful art of pottery was through lessons with a local Johnstown artisan, Jim McDowell. I didn't have time at that point in my life to dedicate to learning the techniques that interested me so much. When I had the opportunity several years later to take a class at the Mont Alto campus under the tutelage of Tom McFarland, I jumped at it. Since then, my focus on pottery has been sporadic. However, I can't imagine not being a potter.

The process of creating is just as important to me as the final products are. Many of my pieces feature trees, reflecting my training in the field of forestry and my fascination with the woods of Pennsylvania. I am also a photographer, and I often make my pottery available for purchase at the art festival booths I set up for selling photographic prints. My photography web site is here: Sun Song Photography.

If you have any questions about my pottery, please don't hesitate to contact me.
