My interest in pottery began when my husband suggested that a pottery class might relieve the stress caused my federal government job in Hawaii. It worked! I came home splattered with clay, relaxed and smiling.
Over the years, I have collected pottery. A couple of years ago I decided to take a course at Penn State Mont Alto to renew my skillls.
Recently, Nika, the potter in my daughter's village in Switzerland, gave me lessons on the Swiss version of throwing on the wheel. The fact that the lessons had to be conducted in a combination of her limited English/excellent German and my beginning/intermediate German made them even more interesting. Hopefully, not too much was lost in translation. Fortunately, demonstrations helped to bridge the language gap.
