James Smith, executive director of NCCS and founder of
the Mont Alto Pottery Guild, has spent the last 30 years as
an historic archaeologist and museum director working
in the field of historic folk pottery. He began creating his
own works in 2003 and maintains a strong interest in the
continuity of traditional forms and materials within the
modern studio setting.
